Students can become a Years 7-12 teacher in health and physical education or marine science, plus another teaching area. A double degree presents greater options. Students can potentially pursue a career outside schools in outdoor and environmental education centres, adventure tourism or ecotourism.
In this program students will complete 80 days’ supervised experience in Queensland schools and 25 days’ outdoor environmental fieldwork. Students can choose from a range of disciplines for secondary teaching areas and graduate eligible to register with the Queensland College of Teachers. Students must undergo a Working with Children check and obtain a Blue Card before commencing supervised professional experience; refer to institution. It is recommended that students obtain first aid and CPR certificates. Students undertaking an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program must successfully complete the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Educators (LANTITE).
