Established in 1994, Southern Cross University has three main campuses in the Northern Rivers, the Gold Coast and Coffs Harbour and metro campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The University’s Hotel School has locations in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Gold Coast campus

Our Gold Coast campus is located at Coolangatta on Yugambeh Country, just 400 metres from beautiful North Kirra Beach. The campus is spread across three multi-level buildings that house innovative learning spaces, health science laboratories, computer labs, student lounges, the University’s Digital Enterprise Lab and an on-campus Health Clinic.

At the Gold Coast campus you can study: Business, Conveyancing, Education, Engineering, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Midwifery, Biomedical Science, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Counselling, Osteopathy, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Sport and Exercise Science, Naturopathy, Information Technology, Law, Social Work and Community Welfare.

Northern Rivers campus

Coffs Harbour campus

Our Coffs Harbour campus on Gumbaynggirr Country is part of an innovation hub, within easy reach of the ocean, international sporting facilities and a regional airport. An advanced Health Sciences Building features a biomechanics running track and high-tech simulation teaching laboratories, surrounded by extensive green spaces and sporting fields. The campus has on-campus accommodation and a gym, library and student lounges.

The University’s National Marine Science Centre is also located in Coffs Harbour, on the shores of the Solitary Islands Marine Park, and is one of Australia’s leading facilities for marine science teaching and research.

At the Coffs Harbour campus you can study: Marine Science, Education, Counselling, Nursing, Midwifery, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy, Sport and Exercise Science, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Pathology.

Courses requiring special entry procedures/tertiary prerequisites
All Southern Cross University undergraduate education courses require applicants to complete a non-academic requirements statement as part of their application; visit qtac.edu.au/teacher-entry.

The Bachelor of Contemporary Music requires an audition. All applicants for The Hotel School are selected on their individual merit and may be required to attend an interview.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants
Indigenous Australian applicants who believe they may not meet the usual admission requirements are invited to a testing and assessment program for consideration for admission to their preferred course. For information, email Indigenous Australian Student Services (IASS) or phone 1800 626 481.

Recognition of prior learning
There are a variety of reasons prospective students could gain credit towards their study, including recognition of prior learning and industry experience. Southern Cross University recognises qualifications from TAFE institutes and other educational providers in formal agreements that grant advanced standing towards a number of courses. Facilities
Discipline-specific facilities vary at each campus. General student facilities also vary at each campus but may include food outlets, bookshops, gymnasium and sporting facilities, swimming pool, health clinic, and banking facilities. Visit scu.edu.au/campuses for details.

Student accommodation
All the University’s campuses provide a list of off-campus accommodation available in their area. There are on-campus residential colleges at both Lismore and Coffs Harbour campuses. For details, visit scu.edu.au/accommodation.

Student support services

Academic support is available to all students through individual or small group appointments, workshops and online resources. Students can access a range of other supports include mentoring, career advice, counselling services and other health services. Free and confidential support services are available for students with a disability. The University also has a range of equity programs including a LGBTIQ+ Ally Network and annual Fusion Festival to celebrate our diverse communities. Institution Dates
Southern Cross University operates on a six-term academic calendar. This academic model allows students to focus on just one or two subjects at once, over a six-week teaching term, with a two-week break between each term. The majority of courses commence in Term 1, Term 3, or Term 5.
