Students are equipped to research and develop the next major breakthroughs in technology and science. They combine theoretical studies of algorithms and data structures in computer science with specialised knowledge and advanced applications of mathematics. Students choose a mathematics specialisation from a wide range of courses in mathematics and statistics. They learn to solve data-driven problems across the physical and biological sciences, engineering, information technology, economics, and business. Through their studies, students develop high-level quantitative and analytical skills, preparing them for key roles in fields such as cybersecurity, data science, machine learning, programming languages, and scientific computing. These skills are critical to supporting industries like global finance, energy, transport, health, and communications. For more information, visit Bachelor of Mathematics/Computer Science at UQ.
