Students combine the flexibility of a science degree with a professional journalism qualification. Their studies prepare them as skilled, reflective and adaptable journalists. They can mix and match courses from general science and non-science disciplines. To deepen their expertise, they can choose majors, minors, or extended majors. At UQ, students have access to one of the broadest selections of science disciplines in Australia. They can tailor their studies to match their interests or career goals. Students gain real-world experience through employability and work-integrated learning opportunities. These include internships, industry placements, research projects, and international study programs. In the journalism component, students develop a deep understanding of journalism, media, and communication contexts. They build strong language skills and the analytical rigor of scientific training. Students gain a thorough understanding of the relationship between science and the media. They are well equipped for success in an evolving careers market.
