Optometrists examine eyes and the visual system to protect and improve vision and to detect and diagnose eye disease. Optometrists may prescribe therapeutic medications for a range of eye conditions. The bachelor component provides a theoretical foundation in the life sciences, vision sciences and clinical science. On completion of the Bachelor of Vision Science with a GPA of 4.00 (or better), you enter the Master of Optometry to complete your clinical practice studies in the QUT Optometry Clinic and other healthcare settings. Practical experiences include working with Indigenous patients, children with low vision, dry eye and glaucoma, and contact lens prescription.
The QUT Offer Guarantee and Year 12 Subject Adjustment Scheme do not apply to this course.
