This diploma allows successful students to transition into the Bachelor of Education by providing the prerequisite knowledge and skills required to meet entry requirements. Upon successful completion of the diploma, graduates will enter the degree with credit into Secondary Education. Students develop critical and reflective thinking skills in order to understand the complexities of what it means to be a teacher in today’s world. Upon successful completion of the diploma, graduates enter the degree with credit. Completing the Bachelor of Education students meet the national accreditation requirements of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership. You’ll learn the knowledge and skills to teach students through Years 7 to 12 and can choose to undertake studies in two teaching areas, or one teaching area and the Learning Support major, (conditions apply to some teaching area combinations). A suitability card is required; refer to institution. Students undertaking an initial teacher education program will need to successfully complete the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) to graduate from the bachelor program. Students are permitted three test attempts in total for each component. If students fail three test attempts for each component, they will not be able to graduate.

Be prepared for a career as a teacher in the public or private sector, leading to senior positions such as a head of curriculum, or roles with central school administration such as policy adviser or curriculum officer or principal. Graduates may also work in training settings in industry and government, outdoor education, adult literacy, libraries, educational research, education policy, or consultancy.
